Die Bucht von Heist ist ein Naturschutzgebiet in der zur belgischen Gemeinde Knokke-Heist gehörenden Ortschaft Heist. Das 50 ha große Gebiet gehört der flämischen Regierung und wird von der Agentur für Natur und Wald verwaltet. Durch die Erweiterung des Zeebrügger Hafens waren die Gezeiten an diesem Ort am Heister Strand gestört worden. Es gab sogar einen Ort, an dem es überhaupt keinen Wasserfluss mehr gab. Ein gefährliches Nebenphänomen davon war die Entstehung von Treibsand, was die Lage lebensgefährlich machte.
