Die Kirche wurde um 650 von Graf Madelgar gegründet, der sich aus dem weltlichen Leben zurückzog. Das heutige Gebäude stammt hauptsächlich aus dem 10. und 11. Jahrhundert und ist eines der besten Beispiele romanischer Architektur in Belgien. Die Kirche hat zwei auffällige Türme, die das Stadtbild dominieren und Symbol für die reiche Geschichte von Zinnik sind.
Vincentius, der Patronsheiliger der Kirche, ist auch Schutzpatron von unter anderem Dachdeckern, Winzern und Seeleuten.
