Der Adlerfarn ist der größte Farn in Flandern. Die Pflanze wird von vielen als Unkraut angesehen, da sie die Verjüngung eines Waldes erschweren kann. Ihre großen Blätter nehmen viel Licht vom Waldboden weg, wodurch es für junge Bäume schwieriger wird, zu keimen. Den Ursprung ihres Namens kannst du mit ein wenig Fantasie vielleicht selbst entdecken: Stell dir die Blätter der Farne einfach als die geöffneten Flügel eines Adlers vor. Und natürlich ist der Adler der größte unter den Vögeln, genau wie der Adlerfarn unter den Farnen!
