Der Ankerplatz befindet sich im trockenen Haspengouw, einem Gebiet im Viereck Tienen-Maastricht-Lüttich-Namen. Genauer gesagt gehört der Ankerplatz zum Obstgartenbereich Tongeren-Borgloon. Er erstreckt sich entlang des Baches namens „de Herk“, der vor Ort „Molenbeek“ genannt wird, an der Grenze zwischen den Dörfern Gelinden, einem Stadtteil von Sint-Truiden, und Klein Gelmen, einem Stadtteil von Heers.
