Die Nordinsel ist ein schöner und überraschender Naturort in der Nähe der Schleuse von Wintam. Vor einigen Jahren war die Nordinsel noch eine aufgeschüttete Mondlandschaft. Heute ist es ein schönes Naturschutzgebiet von 50 Hektar mit wechselnden Weiden, kräuterreichen Wiesen, Sanddünen, Schlickflächen und Gewässern.
Galloway-Rinder und Konik-Pferde verleihen der Landschaft eine besondere Ausstrahlung. Auch Wasser- und Zugvögel fühlen sich dort wohl.
