Das Rathaus von Veurne spielte eine wichtige Rolle zu Beginn des Ersten Weltkriegs. König Albert I. hatte dort sein Arbeitszimmer im oberen Saal. Hier wurden die Pläne für die Überflutung der IJzervlakte mit Karel Cogge besprochen. Auch der Generalstab der belgischen Armee hatte hier mehrere Monate sein Hauptquartier. Im Albert-Saal des Rathauses kannst du anlässlich von 100 Jahren Großer Krieg ein Dokudrama über die Geschichte des Großen Krieges in Veurne ansehen.
