Houthalen-Oost ist ein Gartenviertel von Houthalen in der belgischen Gemeinde Houthalen-Helchteren, das jedoch nicht direkt an den Ort Houthalen gebaut ist, sondern eher mit dem Genker Stadtteil Zwartberg verbunden ist. Bis 1960 konnte man die Hauptgemeinde von Houthalen sogar nicht direkt von Houthalen-Oost aus erreichen.
Houthalen-Oost liegt im Westen eingeschlossen von den Naturschutzgebieten Kelchterhoef und Tenhaagdoornheide und im Süden durch das Natur- und Erholungsgebiet Hengelhoef. Auf der Nordseite findet man den Schießplatz auf der Donderslagse Heide. Dort befindet sich auch das Domäne Masy.
