In Gerhagen-Tessenderlo steht ein Aussichtsturm auf ‚dem Sandberg‘, einer alten Landdüne. Dieser wurde ‚der VVV-Turm des Sandbergs‘ genannt. Er bot einen panoramischen Blick auf das Meer aus Grün in Gerhagen und widerlegte das Vorurteil, dass Tessenderlo nur ‚grau von der Industrie‘ ist. 1999 wurde er wegen Betonfäule abgerissen. Dann wurde ein neues metallisches Exemplar errichtet, das höher ist als das vorherige: 18,75 Meter und 100 Stufen. Die VVV-Tessenderlo finanzierte diesen zweiten Turm und überließ das Bauwerk anschließend kostenlos der Gemeinde Tessenderlo, die jetzt Eigentümer ist.
