A Gerhagen-Tessenderlo si erige una torre panoramica sulla ‘collina di sabbia’, un'antica duna terrestre. Questa è stata chiamata ‘la torre del VVV della collina di sabbia’. Essa offriva una vista panoramica sul mare di verde a Gerhagen e sfatava il pregiudizio che Tessenderlo fosse solo ‘grigia per l'industria’. Nel 1999 fu demolita a causa della decomposizione del calcestruzzo. Allora fu eretta una nuova struttura metallica che è più alta della precedente: 18,75 metri e 100 scalini. Il VVV-Tessenderlo finanziò questa seconda torre e poi cedette gratuitamente l'opera all'amministrazione comunale di Tessenderlo, che ora ne è proprietaria.
