El Matto di mare ist frei übersetzt „tzeezotje“, nach dem Namen des Bistros auf dem Platz.
Die Skulptur wurde vom Künstler Dirk Michiels geschaffen und zeigt drei Dorsche.
Wenn die Fischer früher einen großen Kabeljau fingen, nannten sie ihn „Zwien“ (ein Schwein). Auf diesem Platz wurde der Fisch verkauft und deshalb auch „Zwieneplein“ (Schweineplatz) genannt.
Es war der Besitzer von „tzeezotje“, der ein guter Freund von Dirk Michiels ist, der auf die Idee kam, auf dem Platz ein dreitägiges Fischerfest zu veranstalten. Als bleibende Erinnerung wurde beschlossen, ein Kunstwerk auf dem Platz zu installieren.
