Der Woodrow Wilsonplatz oder 'das Süd' bildet den Rand von 'Dem Zirkusviertel' in Gent. Dieses Viertel erstreckt sich bis zum Sint-Pietersplatz und blühte von 1880 bis 1960. Früher gab es an diesem Platz einen großen Bahnhof, den Süd-Bahnhof. Mit dem Minardschouwburg, dem Festlokal Vooruit, dem Zoo im Muinkpark und dem Neuen Zirkus war dies das Viertel in Gent, das im 19. Jahrhundert für Unterhaltung besucht werden musste.
