The Woodrow Wilson Square, or 'the South', forms the edge of 'The Circus District' in Ghent. This district extends to St. Peter's Square and flourished from 1880 to 1960. There used to be a large train station on this square, the South Station. With the Minard Theater, Celebration Hall Vooruit, the zoo at Muinkpark, and the New Circus, this was the district in Ghent that you had to be in for entertainment in the 19th century.
