Woodrow Wilson-pladsen eller ‘Syd’ danner grænsen for ‘Cirkusområdet’ i Gent. Dette kvarter strækker sig helt til Sankt Peterspladsen og blomstrede fra 1880 til 1960. Tidligere var der på denne plads en stor jernbanestation, Sydstationen. Med Minardscenen, Festlokalet Voru, zoologisk have ved Muinkparken og Det Nye Cirkus, var dette dé området i Gent, hvor man skulle være for underholdning i det 19. århundrede.
