Das Baptisterium in Riva San Vitale stammt aus dem 5. Jahrhundert. Es ist das älteste christliche Bauwerk der Schweiz und steht mitten im Dorf Riva San Vitale am südlichen Ende des Luganersees im Kanton Tessin.
Das Baptisterium San Giovanni mit seinem quadratischen Grundriss ist mit einem Priependach gedeckt. In einer Höhe von einigen Metern geht es in ein Achteck über. Ein für Prozessionen vorgesehener Gang ist heute nicht mehr vorhanden, am Boden sind nur noch einige Spuren sichtbar. Der Gang war mit einer Kirche verbunden, die neben dem Baptisterium an der Stelle der heutigen Chiesa San Vitale aus dem Jahr 1759 stand. Erhalten haben sich über dem Portal auf der Westseite fünf akanthusförmige Konsolsteine, auf welchen die Dachbalken auflagen.
