Overath ist eine mittlere kreisangehörige Stadt im Rheinisch-Bergischen Kreis im Süden des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen. Die Ortschaft wurde im Jahre 1060 erstmals erwähnt.
Der Hauptort liegt etwa 25 Kilometer östlich von Köln im Aggertal im Bergischen Land. Die weiteren Ortslagen befinden sich im Aggertal, im angrenzenden Sülztal und auf den umliegenden Anhöhen.
