Die Vulkaneifel ist eine in Rheinland-Pfalz gelegene und bis 699,8 m ü. NHN hohe Region der Eifel, die sich durch ihre in besonderem Maß mit Vulkanismus verknüpfte geologische Geschichte und Gegenwart auszeichnet. Charakteristisch für ihre Landschaft sind die typischen Eifelmaare, zahlreiche andere Zeugnisse vulkanischer Aktivitäten wie Vulkanbauten, Lavaströme und Vulkankrater wie die Caldera des Laacher Sees. Die Vulkaneifel, von der Großteile im Naturpark Vulkaneifel liegen, ist heute immer noch vulkanisch aktiv. Ein Kennzeichen dieser vulkanischen Aktivität sind austretende vulkanische Gase, wie zum Beispiel im Laacher See.
