Im Herbst 2012 wurde unter der Federführung des Landschaftsverbandes Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) die Annette von Droste zu Hülshoff-Stiftung gegründet. Ein vorrangiges Ziel der Stiftung ist es, Burg Hülshoff in Havixbeck gemeinsam mit Haus Rüschhaus in Münster-Nienberge dauerhaft für die Öffentlichkeit zu erhalten und als Kulturorte auszubauen. Weitere Ziele sind die Bewahrung und Vermittlung der mit dem Namen von Droste zu Hülshoff verbundenen kultur- und kunsthistorischen Werte sowie die Unterstützung von Kunst und Kultur, Bildung und Forschung.
