In de herfst van 2012 werd onder leiding van het Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) de Annette von Droste zu Hülshoff-stichting opgericht. Een van de belangrijkste doelen van de stichting is om kasteel Hülshoff in Havixbeck samen met Huis Rüschhaus in Münster-Nienberge blijvend voor het publiek toegankelijk te houden en uit te bouwen als culturele locaties. Verdere doelen zijn het behoud en de overdracht van de cultuur- en kunsthistorische waarden die verbonden zijn aan de naam van Droste zu Hülshoff, alsook de ondersteuning van kunst en cultuur, onderwijs en onderzoek.
