Die Augustusbrücke ist die älteste Brücke in der Stadt Dresden im Bundesland Sachsen in Deutschland. Sie wurde zwischen 1907 und 1910 erbaut. Die Straßenbrücke überquert die Elbe und verbindet die Innere Neustadt im Norden (rechte Uferseite) mit dem historischen Stadtgebiet im Süden (linke Uferseite). An derselben Stelle gibt es seit mindestens dem 12. Jahrhundert eine Brücke. Unter König August II. dem Starken von Sachsen wurde zwischen 1727 und 1731 eine neue Sandsteinbrücke erbaut. Diese Brücke wurde durch die heutige, ebenfalls aus Sandstein, bestehende Brücke mit 9 Bögen ersetzt, um eine breitere Öffnung für den Schiffsverkehr zu bieten. Sie wurde von Wilhelm Kreis und Theodor Klette entworfen.[1] Drei Straßenbahnlinien der Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe führen über die Augustusbrücke.[2]
