Das städtische Gymnasium Nepomucenum ist 1627 von Jesuiten gegründet worden. Im August 2014 werden etwa 850 Schüler von 70 Lehrern unterrichtet. Damit ist das Nepomucenum das größte Gymnasium der Stadt, vor dem städtischen Heriburg-Gymnasium Coesfeld und dem bischöflichen St.-Pius-Gymnasium Coesfeld. Namensgeber ist der heilige Johannes Nepomuk, unter anderem der Patron des Beichtgeheimnisses. Leiterin der Schule ist Angela Bülo.
