Diese Festung gehörte zum Orden der Tempelritter als Teil der Reconquista.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Festnahme der Tempelritter in Frankreich verschanzten sich die Tempelritter von Aragonien in ihren Burgen. Das Heer des Königs von Aragonien greift die Burg von Ascó an. Die Brüder, die dort waren, wurden festgenommen.
