Nach dem Einsturz der ersten neuen Brücke im Jahr 1741 entstand die Notwendigkeit, diese Erschließung der Stadt aufgrund der großen Menschen- und Warenströme, die sie wieder nutzen mussten, zu verbessern.
Das alte arabische Tor der Brücke wurde während der Regierungszeit des ersten Bourbonen des spanischen Throns, Felipe V, im Jahr 1742 durch das aktuelle ersetzt und erweitert, wie aus der Inschrift auf dem Stein neben dem Tor hervorgeht.
Dieses Wahrzeichen der Stadt besteht aus einem geschnitzten Doppelbogen, der von drei Zinnen gekrönt und außen mit dem Wappen der Familie Anjou und dem königlichen Wappen der Bourbonen geschmückt ist .
