Im Collège de France arbeitete der Mediziner Charles Edouard Brown-Séquard. Er glaubte, dass gemahlene Hoden von Tieren ihn jung halten würden, da er überzeugt war, dass der Alterungsprozess durch eine verringerte Funktion der Hoden verursacht wurde. In seinem Labor im Collège de France mahlte er die Hoden eines jungen Hundes, fügte Wasser hinzu und injizierte es in seine Adern. Seiner Meinung nach konnte er sich dadurch besser konzentrieren, länger wach bleiben und wieder die Treppe hochrennen. Später konnten diese Effekte nicht reproduziert werden...
