Au Collège de France, le médecin Charles Edouard Brown-Séquard travaillait. Il croyait que des testicules d'animaux moulus le garderaient jeune, car il était convaincu que le vieillissement était causé par une diminution de la fonction des testicules. Dans son laboratoire au Collège de France, il a broyé les testicules d'un jeune chien, a ajouté de l'eau et l'a injecté dans ses veines. Selon lui, cela lui permettait sûrement de mieux se concentrer, de rester éveillé plus longtemps et de courir à nouveau dans les escaliers. Plus tard, ces effets n'ont pas pu être reproduits...
