Die Weinbaugemeinde liegt an der Weinstraße in 260 m Höhe und zählt derzeit 330 Einwohner. Ribeauvillé ist 8 km und Riquewihr 12 km entfernt. Verschiedene ambulante Geschäfte sorgen für die Versorgung der Gemeinde.
Es gibt ein Hotel-Restaurant und möblierte Wohnungen.
Mehrere Winzer bieten Kellerbesichtigungen mit Verkostung an. Die Stadt ist für ihren Pinot Noir und den Grand Cru 'Gloeckelberg' bekannt. Als typisch elsässisches Dorf ist Rodern der ideale Aufenthaltsort, um die großen Sehenswürdigkeiten des Elsass zu entdecken.
