Comune vitivinicolo situato sulla Route des Vins a 260 m di altitudine, conta attualmente 330 abitanti. Ribeauvillé dista 8 km e Riquewihr 12 km. Il villaggio è rifornito da alcuni negozi ambulanti.
C'è un hotel-ristorante e appartamenti ammobiliati.
Diversi viticoltori offrono visite in cantina e degustazioni. Il villaggio è famoso per il Pinot Nero e il Grand Cru "Gloeckelberg". Tipico villaggio alsaziano, Rodern è una base ideale per esplorare le principali attrazioni turistiche dell'Alsazia.
