Die Villa wurde 1890-1891 nach einem Entwurf von Edmond De Vigne für das Künstlerpaar Adrien Demont und Virginie Demont-Breton erbaut. Sie waren von dem alten Ägypten fasziniert und, obwohl sie nie dort gewesen waren, hatten sie ihr Wissen aus dem Buch "Description de l'Égypte", einer sehr umfassenden Studie anlässlich der Expedition nach Ägypten von Napoleon Bonaparte, bezogen. Von 1910-1911 wurde die Villa mit einem monumentalen Torbau erweitert, inspiriert von dem Tor des Tempelkomplexes von Dendera.
