Der Sektor la Haute-Cize liegt in einem Natura-2000-Gebiet, das ihm eine wichtige Rolle bei der Erhaltung einiger bemerkenswerter Vogelarten zuweist. Die Vielfalt der Lebensräume zwischen dem Pic d'Herrozate und dem Forêt d'Orion, einem ausgedehnten dunklen Buchenwald in einem engen Tal, ermöglicht es, einige der Schätze des Baskenlands in vollen Zügen zu genießen. Im Wald sollte man also nach der prestigeträchtigen Spechtfamilie Ausschau halten, die vor allem durch den Weißrückenspecht repräsentiert wird. Es gibt nicht wirklich Wege, auf denen man diesen Bereich voll ausnutzen kann, außer dem Weg zwischen dem Dorf Béhérobie und dem Col d'Erozate, der jedoch fast 700 m Höhenunterschied überwindet. Es gibt jedoch einige Waldwege im Wald.
