Das Musée du Vieux Montpellier in der ersten Etage des Hôtel de Varennes präsentiert Mobiliar und Erinnerungsstücke, die mit der Geschichte Montpelliers verbunden sind (Mittelalter, 17. und 18. Jahrhundert, Revolution, Kaiserreich usw.).
Die Sammlung umfasst zahlreiche Portraits, Radierungen, religiöse Statuetten, Textilien – und insbesondere einige bedeutende Stücke: eine Schwarze Madonna mit Kind aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, das „Goldkabinett der Konsuln“ (17. Jahrhundert) und Steine der Bastille.
Im Zuge der Besichtigung sehen Sie das Foyer, den Prozessionssaal, den Salon des 18. Jahrhunderts, den Revolutionssaal und den Kaminsaal.
