Der romanische sechseckige Turm der alten Kirche von Usselskirch hat 1000 Jahre Geschichte überdauert und bleibt ein archäologisches Rätsel. Seine Form, seine Höhe und seine blinde Arkatur sind ungewöhnlich. Die große Kirche aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, die 1930 unter Denkmalschutz gestellt wurde, überlebte die Bombardierungen der benachbarten Maginot-Linie während des Zweiten Weltkriegs nicht. Die 1,40 Meter dicken Mauern des alten Turms hielten dem jedoch stand. Am Fuße des Turms können acht (der ursprünglich vierzehn) Stationen des Kreuzwegs aus dem 17. Jahrhundert betrachtet werden
Ungewöhnlich: Auf einer Seite des Turms befindet sich der Kopf einer römischen oder vorchristlichen Statue.
