Der Teich entstand nach einem Bergwerksabsturz in den 1980er Jahren und beherbergt heute ein ganzes Ökosystem. Abgeschieden inmitten der Natur hat sich hier im Laufe der Jahre eine besondere Flora und Fauna entwickelt. Ein idyllischer Spaziergang entlang des Teichs führt zu einem Vogelobservatorium, das ideal für Naturliebhaber und Fotografen ist. Das Angeln ist unter bestimmten Bedingungen unter der Aufsicht des AAPPMA l'Ablette de Creutzwald erlaubt.
