Ein Feuer zerstörte die Scheune eines Bauern. In seiner Verzweiflung schloss er einen Pakt mit Satan: Das Gebäude sollte vor Sonnenaufgang wieder aufgebaut werden, im Austausch für seine Seele. Aus Reue gestand der Bauer alles seiner Frau, die die Idee hatte, den Hahn vor Sonnenaufgang krähen zu lassen. Satan geriet in Panik und flüchtete. Doch am nächsten Tag warf der Teufel vor lauter Wut über den Betrug einen der Steine aus der Scheune auf das benachbarte Feld, wo er noch heute steht.
