Grindon liegt nahe dem südlichen Ende des Peak District Nationalparks. Es befindet sich an der Spitze des westlichen Randes der Kalksteinbank des Manifold Valley, südlich von Butterton und gegenüber von Wetton auf der östlichen Seite des Tales. Ein Vergleich von zwei Ansichten nach Norden aus dem Dorf gibt einen Hinweis auf die Einöde dieser Gegend im Winter. Das näher gelegene Dorf, links von der Mitte, ist Butterton, während der entfernte Horizont von Derbyshire ist.
