Die Villa verdankt ihren Namen der panoramischen Lage auf einem Hügel direkt an der Straße, völlig eingebettet in das Grün. Sie ist über eine Allee zugänglich, die sich den Hang hinaufschlängelt, flankiert von 189 Bäumen, darunter Zypressen, Libanon-Zedern und Zitrusbäume.
Sie wurde im XVIII. Jahrhundert neu erbaut und mit zahlreichen Fresken dekoriert, entsprechend dem damals vorherrschenden Trend im pisanischen Adel, in der Umgebung von San Giuliano Freizeithäuser zu errichten, das in dieser Zeit ein Ziel des Kur-Tourismus der europäischen Aristokratie wurde.
