Porta Fiorentina wurde so genannt, weil sie auf die Straße nach Florenz führte. Obwohl es mittelalterlichen Ursprungs ist, zeigt es bedeutende Veränderungen, die im 16. Jahrhundert vorgenommen wurden, um die Schäden zu reparieren, die es während einer Belagerung der Stadt im Jahr 1530 erlitten hatte.

Der Parkplatz mit einer sehr begrenzten Anzahl von Plätzen ist sehr leicht zugänglich und befindet sich 10 Meter von der Porta Fiorentina entfernt: dem Eingang zum historischen Zentrum.
