Die Poelestraat in Groningen verläuft vom Grote Markt zum Diepenring. Ursprünglich war sie vor allem eine Einkaufsstraße, heute ist sie eines der wichtigsten Ausgehzentren von Groningen.
Die Straße verlief im Mittelalter - damals als Polstraat - von der Hondsrug zu den Wiesen im Bett der Hunze. 'Pol': höher gelegene Flächen, auch Wierde genannt. Bei Ausgrabungen im Jahr 1989 wurden Straßenbeläge aus dem 11. Jahrhundert gefunden. Die Straße wird erstmals 1325 erwähnt.
