Aalst ist ein Dorf in der Gemeinde Zaltbommel in der niederländischen Provinz Gelderland. Es liegt an der abgedämmten Maas gegenüber von Veen, im Südwesten der Stadt Zaltbommel. Das Dorf hat 2.440 Einwohner. Die älteste bekannte Erwähnung von Aalst stammt aus 814/815. Laut einer Urkunde schenkte ein gewisser Baldericus einige Grundstücke aus "Halosta" an das Benediktinerkloster Laurisheim bei Mainz. Am Ende des zehnten Jahrhunderts tauchen die Namen "Altisti" und "Aloste" auf, im elften Jahrhundert der Name "Alaste" und 1133 der Name "Aelst".
