Es liegt im Südwesten von Ee, im Nordwesten von Oudwoude, nördlich von Kollumerzwaag und im Südosten von Driesum und Oostwoud. Der Dorfkern liegt zwischen dem Nieuwe Zwemmer und dem Stroobossertrekvaart, nordöstlich der N910. Am Stroobossertrekvaart gibt es einen Hafen, und das Dorf hat zudem einige Campingplätze. Im Jahr 2021 hatte Westergeest 610 Einwohner. Zum Dorf gehören die Ortsteile Beintemahuis, Bonte Hond, Kettingwier, Weerdeburen und Westerburen.
