Die Sint-Jan steht an der Ecke der Parade und der Torenstraße, an der sich der Haupteingang befindet, und beeindruckt durch ihr Ausmaß und ihren Reichtum an Bildhauerei. Ursprünglich als Pfarrkirche erbaut, wurde die Sint-Jan 1366 zur Kapitelkirche und 1559 zur Kathedrale des neuen Bistums 's-Hertogenbosch erhoben. Am 22. Juni 1929 wurde der Sint-Jan der Ehrentitel Basilika verliehen. Das Gebäude hat die Form einer Kreuzkirche, genauer gesagt einer Kreuzbasilika.
