Dieser alte Deich wurde um 1600 erbaut. Er besteht aus gestampftem Seegras ('Algen'), das einst mit Holzpfählen, Steinen, Beton und Sand geschützt war. Lange Zeit bildeten Wällen den wichtigsten Küstenschutz entlang der Zuiderzee. Der Deich auf Wieringen ist ein Denkmal für diese Technik. Der Deich erstreckt sich vom malerischen Weiler De Elft bis zum Weiler De Hoelm.
