Der Spui in Schijf.
Eine Torfroute, die von den Moorgebieten zum Hafen führte, hatte manchmal einen großen Gefälle. Ohne künstliche Maßnahmen würde die Route auch leer laufen. Die Routen waren dann auch nicht das ganze Jahr über mit Wasser gefüllt. Um dennoch über genügend Wasser zum Zeitpunkt des Torftransports zu verfügen, wurde ein ausgeklügeltes System von Schleusen, Dämmen und Wasserreservoirs eingerichtet. Und hier war so eine Schleuse.
