Mit der Anlegung des Naturschutzgebiets Bleiswijkse Fles an der Nordwestseite der Rotte zwischen dem Lange Vaart und der A12 ist das Naturschutzgebiet rund um die Rotte wieder etwas größer geworden. Die Bleiswijkse Fles ist von Süden aus mit dem Fahrrad über eine neue Brücke über den Lange Vaart erreichbar.
Zur Bereicherung der Natur im Gebiet des Recreatieschap Rottemeren treiben in der Bleiswijkse Fles seit Ende April 2017 zwei Muschelschaleninseln von 4×5 Metern. Diese wurden speziell als Nistplatz für Flussseeschwalben angelegt. Die Vögel nutzen sie rege.
