Met de aanleg van het natuurgebied de Bleiswijkse Fles aan de noordwestkant van de Rotte tussen de Lange Vaart en de A12 is het natuurgebied rond de Rotte weer wat groter. De Bleiswijkse Fles is aan de zuidzijde met de fiets bereikbaar via een nieuwe brug over de Lange Vaart.
Ter verrijking van de natuur in het gebied van het Recreatieschap Rottemeren drijven in de Bleiswijkse Fles sinds eind april 2017, twee schelpeneilandjes van 4×5 meter. Deze zijn speciaal aangelegd als nestplaats voor visdiefjes. Er wordt veel gebruik van gemaakt door de vogels.
