Con la creación del área natural de la Bleiswijkse Fles en el lado noroeste del Rotte entre el Lange Vaart y la A12, el área natural alrededor del Rotte ha crecido un poco más. La Bleiswijkse Fles es accesible en bicicleta desde el sur a través de un nuevo puente sobre el Lange Vaart.
Para enriquecer la naturaleza en el área del Recreatieschap Rottemeren, en la Bleiswijkse Fles desde finales de abril de 2017, flotan dos islas de conchas de 4×5 metros. Estas se han creado especialmente como lugar de anidación para las gaviotas pescadoras. Las aves las utilizan mucho.
