Con la creazione dell'area naturale della Bleiswijkse Fles sul lato nord-ovest del Rotte tra il Lange Vaart e l'A12, l'area naturale intorno al Rotte è diventata un po' più grande. La Bleiswijkse Fles è raggiungibile in bicicletta dal lato sud tramite un nuovo ponte sul Lange Vaart.
Per arricchire la natura nell'area del Consorzio Ricreativo Rottemeren, nella Bleiswijkse Fles, da fine aprile 2017, galleggiano due isolette di gusci di 4×5 metri. Queste sono state appositamente create come siti di nidificazione per gli sterna. Gli uccelli ne fanno ampio uso.
