Gennep, Loswal an der Maas - Die Brückenbauer
Dass Brücken in Kriegszeiten strategisch wichtig sind, bedarf keiner Erklärung. Aber was ist, wenn es keine Brücken mehr gibt? Im Februar und März 1945 bauten die britischen Royal Engineers zwischen Oeffelt und Gennep eine über einen Kilometer lange Bailey-Brücke. Ein beeindruckendes Technikstück, von dem Churchill und Montgomery sich persönlich ein Bild machten.
