Birkhoven ist ein parkähnlicher Wald und ehemaliges Anwesen westlich von Amersfoort. Es liegt am Rand des Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Das Gebiet hat eine Fläche von etwa 60 ha. Im Westen grenzt es an das Naturschutzgebiet Monnikenbos. Im Süden wird die Grenze durch die Eisenbahnlinie Amersfoort-Utrecht gebildet. Im Norden bildet die alte Straße zwischen Soest und Amersfoort die Grenze. Im Osten wird es durch die Barchman-Wuijtierslaan und das Naturschutzgebiet Bokkeduinen begrenzt. Der Zoo Amersfoort liegt im Birkhoven Wald.
