Das Galgeven ist mit 16 Hektar einer der größten Moore in den Oisterwijker Wäldern. Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts gelangte dieses Moor in den Besitz von Textilfabrikanten aus Tilburg, die es zum Waschen von Wolle verwendeten. Auf den umliegenden Hügeln standen früher ein Galgen und eine Walkmühle: eine durch Windkraft betriebene Industriemühle, die man zum 'Walken' oder zur Nachbearbeitung von Wolle verwendete.
