Es ist Teil einer Grünfläche, die sich durch den gesamten östlichen Teil von Noord erstreckt, vom Vliegenbos bis zur Kreuzung der Ringweg A10 mit der Nieuwe Leeuwarderweg. Der Park erhielt offiziell seinen Namen durch einen Ratsbeschluss des Stadtteils Noord am 11. September 1996; er wurde nach dem Baanakkerspad benannt, das bereits am 30. Oktober 1963 seinen Namen erhielt, benannt nach dem Naturschutzgebiet De Baanakkers im Wormer- und Jisperveld. Der Name des Weges gilt für alle Wege im Park.
