Kropywnyzkyj ist eine Industriestadt in der Ukraine und Hauptstadt der Oblast Kirowohrad mit etwa 230.000 Einwohnern .
Die Stadt liegt im Dneprhochland am Ufer des Flusses Inhul, einem 354 km langen, linken Nebenfluss des Südlichen Bugs und ist vollständig vom gleichnamigen Rajon Kropywnyzkyj umschlossen, jedoch selbst kein Teil desselben, sondern untersteht der Oblastverwaltung.
Kropywnyzkyj ist in die zwei Stadtrajone Rajon Fortezja und Rajon Podil und die Siedlung städtischen Typs Nowe gegliedert.
